Domestic Assistant (Cleaner)

Day Cleaner Required for Birmingham Digbeth (B9 4EH)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (shifts 8:00‑16:00 & 14:00‑22:00) | Salary: £24,465 per annum pro rata | Employment type: Contract | Seniority level: Entry level | Closing date: Friday 23rd January 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out systematic cleaning with machinery and/or microfibre cleaning systems.
• Practice safe handling of chemicals, ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations and manufacturers’ instructions.
• Ensure correct use of waste streams for safe disposal of waste and recycling per Trust procedures.
• Provide specialist cleaning, including barrier/isolation cleaning, and manage exposure to bodily fluids and frequent unpleasant working conditions (e.g., cleaning toilets, odors).
• Follow cleaning schedules in line with national cleaning standards and Hotel Services Department schedules.
• Attend and complete mandatory training such as fire, manual handling, COSHH and other courses.
• Order and maintain stock of domestic consumables and cleaning supplies.
• Check and clean microfibre equipment daily, reporting defects to the Domestic Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate documentation (flushing records, cleaning sign‑off records, etc.).
• Communicate with staff, visitors and patients courteously and helpfully.
• Handle occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances.
• Maintain concentration while using all types of cleaning equipment (occasionally/frequently).
