This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing SaaS organisation operating in the health-tech space, building modern, cloud-based platforms that support critical digital transformation across healthcare environments.
The business is scaling its engineering capability across the UK and US and is looking for a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer who can take ownership of cloud infrastructure, DevOps best practice, platform reliability, and deployment automation. This is a senior, highly autonomous role suited to someone who is comfortable working directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple regions.
The Role
As Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping, improving, and scaling cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes across the organisation. You will work closely with engineering leadership, product teams, security stakeholders, and operational teams across both the UK and US to ensure platforms are secure, reliable, scalable, and cost‑efficient.
You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of complex technical challenges, influencing cloud architecture decisions, and helping establish consistent DevOps standards across distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure across Azure, with exposure to AWS beneficial.
- Build, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Modernise and optimise CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed, reliability, and quality.
- Own and improve platform reliability, availability, observability, and incident response processes.
- Work closely with stakeholders across UK and US teams to understand technical priorities, remove delivery blockers, and influence engineering outcomes.
- Establish and promote best practices across cloud security, compliance, monitoring, automation, and cost optimisation.
- Support and improve production environments, including participation in on‑call or incident response processes where required.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve release management, deployment automation, and operational efficiency.
- Review technical designs, infrastructure changes, and pipeline improvements to ensure maintainability and scalability.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong DevOps culture across the wider engineering function.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation, tooling, and process improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Strong experience in Cloud DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar infrastructure‑focused role.
- Proven experience operating at senior or lead level, with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with AWS would be advantageous.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally with Terraform.
- Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Azure DevOps or similar tooling.
- Good scripting experience using tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar.
- Experience supporting highly available, production‑grade SaaS platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, monitoring, observability, and cost optimisation.
- Experience working with containerised environments and modern software delivery practices.
- Comfortable working with distributed teams across different time zones, particularly UK and US‑based stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with engineering teams, leadership, and wider business stakeholders.
- Experience in health‑tech, regulated environments, or SaaS platforms would be beneficial but is not essential.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, pragmatic, and technically credible DevOps leader who can balance hands‑on delivery with strategic thinking. You should be comfortable taking ownership, challenging existing approaches, and driving improvements across infrastructure, automation, and software delivery.
You will suit this role if you enjoy working in a scaling SaaS environment, can operate without heavy direction, and are confident partnering with stakeholders across both the UK and US to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable cloud platforms.
Benefits
- Hybrid working from Glasgow.
- Opportunity to work on modern SaaS platforms in the health‑tech sector.
- High‑impact lead‑level role with autonomy and visibility.
- Collaboration with international engineering and product teams.
- Opportunity to shape DevOps standards, tooling, and cloud strategy across a growing organisation.
