OVERVIEW OF ROLE
We\’re recruiting a Retail Assistant (maternity cover) for our successful Wakefield shop! Join a great team in a highly successful store selling quality clothing and accessories homeware books and CDs / DVDs all donated by our supporters.
Our shops aren’t just a place for people to donate or bargain hunt but also to build careers volunteer and support our cause. And every penny of profit made by our shops helps us be here for children and families who desperately need our support.
As retail shop assistant you’ll support the manager and assistant manager helping customers sorting stock and making the store look the best it can be. You don\’t need to have worked in a shop before but you’ll need to be up for talking to and helping customers face to face and over the phone.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Help achieve sales and KPI targets
- Sort steam and price donated stock
- Help to maintain high standards of merchandising
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Work on the till
- Ensure the shop is kept clean and tidy
- Assist with booking in deliveries and collections
- Assist shop with promoting and processing gift aid
- Be a key holder opening and closing when required
- Assist in motivating volunteer team
- Complete mandatory training when requested
Any other adhoc duties
We expect all staff to undertake any other duties within the scope spirit and purpose of the job the title of the post and its grading as requested by your line manager or their higher level of authority on behalf of the charity.

This role will involve evening and weekend work so flexibility is essential.
