JOB DESCRIPTION
Forget Me Not Children\’s Hospice has a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Retail Assistant to join our team. In this role you’ll gain hands-on experience in a busy retail environment while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. You will support the shop manager and assistant manager in effectively sorting, displaying and selling items.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
•Greeting and assisting customers with a smile
•Learning how to operate tills and handle payments
•Keeping shelves stocked and displays looking great
•Supporting with stockroom tasks including sorting, steaming and pricing donated stock.
•Assist shop with promoting and processing gift aid.
•Helping achieve sales and KPI targets.
•Learning about the charity and acting as an ambassador
•Working towards your Retail Apprenticeship qualification

Whilst you are employed as an Apprentice Retail Assistant, you will work towards achieving a Level 2 Retailer Apprenticeship, which is delivered in the workplace by Inspiro Learning.
To become an apprentice, you must:
•Be 16 or over.
•Not already be in full-time education.
You can start an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, want a change or you\’re upskilling in your current job. You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.
As an apprentice you’ll:
•Have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace.
•Learn and train for a specific job.
•Get paid and receive holiday leave.
•Get hands-on experience in a real job.
•Study for at least 20% of your working hours.
•Complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship.
•Be on a career path with lots of future potential.
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. You’re an employee with a contract of employment and holiday leave. By the end of an apprenticeship, you\’ll have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.
Levels of an apprenticeship
Each apprenticeship has a level and an equivalent education level. You can start an apprenticeship at any level. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent education level. For example, if you complete a level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent of an A level.
Future Prospects
The chance of a full time position on completion of the apprenticeship and further progression on to Level 3 Retail Supervisor Apprenticeship.

Things to consider
This role will involve weekend work and flexibility is essential. There\’s lots of being on your feet; lots of hands on practical tasks such as sorting bags of clothing donations; and you\’ll be working with volunteers.
Opening Hours: Mon-Sat: 9am-4.30pm, Sun: 10am-4pm. Working hours are 37.5 per week, working 5 days out of 7 days.
