We are seeking a reliable, caring and enthusiastic Minibus Driver to transport adults with learning disabilities and additional needs to and from our Day Centre in Rochford. This is a pivotal role within our service. As the first and last person our service users see each day, you will play an important part in ensuring they feel safe, valued and supported, helping to set them up for a positive and enjoyable day.
You will be driving a minibus carrying no more than 7 passengers at any one time and will be supported on all routes by a dedicated Passenger Escort, ensuring the safety, comfort and wellbeing of those travelling.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Morning route: 7:30am - 9:30am
- Afternoon route: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Please note that finish times may vary due to traffic conditions and route requirements. Drivers will be paid until their duties are completed. This position is offered on a minimum 20-hour per week contract. For candidates seeking additional hours, there are opportunities on certain days to work as a Support Worker between driving duties. These hours are paid at £12.75 per hour and involve supporting adults with learning disabilities and additional needs within our Day Centre.
Requirements
Essential:
- Full UK Driving Licence with D1 entitlement
- Maximum of 3 penalty points on licence
- 25 years of age or over (insurance requirement)
- Physically fit, as the role includes securing wheelchairs and ensuring passenger safety during transport
- Excellent reliability, punctuality and communication skills
- Kind, patient and caring nature
Desirable:
- Previous minibus driving experience
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or additional needs
- Experience securing wheelchairs using vehicle restraint systems
