Key Objectives of the Role
- H&S – Work in a safe and responsible manner. (For own and other people’s safety).
- Conduct any pre-shift H&S checks as specified; for example: Coolant levels, emergency stops.
- Housekeeping (5s duties).
- Performing Room temperature and Elevated temperature Tensile tests.
- Performing both Charpy and Izod Impact test at room temperature and sub zero temperatures.
- Performing Stress rupture and Creep tests.
- Performing Brinell, Rockwell and Vickers hardness tests.
- Performing heat treatment of test pieces including quench.
- Operate moulding presses, cut off machines and polishing machines for preparation of Metallographic samples.
- Process grain flow slices and micro samples through the etching process.
There is an expectation that the role will be flexible and willingness to train in other areas of the department is essential, this may include the operation of band saws, waterjet cutting, Mechanical testing and Metallurgical preparation / testing.

- Experienced in preparation of various Metallurgical testing.
- Experienced in performing metallurgical and Mechanical tests
Desirable
- Experience of Metallurgical testing
- Experience of Mechanical testing
- Abrasive Wheel Training (Max. 5 Years).
- First Aid Training (Max 3 Years).
- Fire Warden Training (Max. 5 Years).
- IOSH Working Safely / IOSH Managing Safely an advantage.
