To lead and coordinate warehouse staff working within the e-commerce fulfilment area, ensuring efficient operation of the sortation system and timely, accurate processing of customer orders. The Team Leader supports operational targets for productivity, quality, and safety while maintaining smooth workflow and equipment performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily running of the automated sortation system to ensure consistent throughput and accuracy.
- Monitor real-time system performance (e.g., conveyor flow, scanning accuracy, system alerts) and escalate issues to maintenance or the Supervisor when needed.
- Conduct pre-shift system checks and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper labelling, scanning, and routing of parcels through the sortation process.
- Lead and motivate a team of warehouse operatives assigned to sortation tasks.
- Allocate daily workloads and assign duties according to order volume and shift priorities.
- Provide on-the-job training for new staff on warehouse procedures, safety, and equipment use.
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain discipline, teamwork, and high morale among the team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Warehouse or e-commerce fulfilment experience.
- Experience in a team leader or senior operator role.
Skills & Competencies
- Experience working with automated sortation or conveyor systems preferred.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Good understanding of warehouse processes, especially order picking, sorting, and dispatch.
- Ability to identify and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Solid communication and coordination abilities.
- Comfortable using warehouse software and handheld scanning devices.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and peak periods.
Working Conditions
Based in a fast-paced e-commerce fulfilment warehouse. Exposure to automated systems, conveyor lines, and warehouse equipment. May involve standing for long periods, walking extensive distances, and light to moderate lifting. Shift work and extended hours may be required during busy seasons.
Salary - Β£30,000 - Β£35,000 Depending on experience.
Hours - Monday - Friday
