Senior Management Accountant - Warrington (On-site) - £50-60K
Overview
Forge Talent is partnering with a large, privately owned national group with and c.£1bn turnover based near Warrington. This role will have a wide remit across Management Accounts, Finance Business Partnering and Statutory Reporting, and is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant to take a step up.
Responsibilities
- Own month-end for allocated regions, ensuring timely and accurate production of management accounts.
- Oversee production and review of individual site P&Ls, ensuring accuracy and consistency across ~multiple locations.
- Review journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments, alongside full balance sheet reconciliations prepared by junior team members.
- Maintain ownership of balance sheet integrity, ensuring all reconciliations are complete, accurate, and supported.
- Act as key finance business partner to site managers and regional directors, supporting performance and answering P&L-related queries.
- Investigate variances against budget/forecast/prior periods and provide clear, actionable commentary.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including input on regional performance and cost drivers.
- Monitor key financial metrics and operational KPIs, highlighting risks and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
- Support audit, statutory accounts, and tax requirements as needed.
- Contribute to BAU process improvements, including systems and controls enhancements and cost analysis work.
- Support and coach 2 indirect reports, reviewing work and aiding development.
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Typically first-time mover from audit or 0-2 years’ PQE in industry.
- Proven experience of month-end, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Confident business partner, comfortable dealing with non-finance stakeholders (site managers, regional directors) and having challenging conversations.
