Legal Cashier/ Payments /Legal Sector/ Annual Bonus/ Hybrid Working (2 Days WFH) / Excellent Benefits

Forge Talent are supporting a highly successful City Centre Law Firm with a newly created opportunity within their accounts team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a positive, motivated and proactive Legal Cashier/ Finance Assistant to join a friendly and family focussed organisation as they continue to grow.

Previous experience gained within the legal sector with an understanding of Solicitors Accounting Rules is highly advantageous.

Legal Cashier Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Accounts team to handle, manage and record varied and high-volume financial transactions.
  • Regularly checking online banking platforms to manage and record incoming and outgoing bank transactions in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Proactively identifying the nature of incoming transactions and entering details into the practice accounting system, investigating as required to ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounting Rules.
  • Entering details of payments into the on-line banking platforms and managing the payments through the appropriate levels of approvals and authorisations.
  • Maintain effective communication with the legal teams and clients, to build strong and trusting relationships.
  • Assisting the legal teams to explain and understand financial transactions, providing ad hoc financial support to the legal teams as required.
  • Support the Credit Control team with contacting clients to request outstanding payments as required.
  • Support continual improvements by proactively identifying ways to improve working practices to support efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the wider Finance Team with additional tasks as required

Legal Cashier Required Experience:

  • Previous experience in the capacity as a Legal Cashier or Finance Assistant with exposure to bank reconciliations and posting of incoming and outgoing payments.
  • A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Previous experience of working in a legal/ professional services sector environment, with an understanding of Solicitors Accounting Rules is highly advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues and legal teams, including Senior Partners.
  • The ability to explain financial processes and to challenge appropriately where required to ensure compliance.
  • The ability to work to strict time deadlines, prioritising tasks accordingly within a fast paced and changeable environment.
  • Strong IT and computerised systems skills (intermediate and above Excel skills)
  • A desire to learn new skills and contribute to departmental enhancements.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proactively building positive working relationships across the finance function and wider firm.
  • This position will be based on 3 days working from the Manchester office based on hours 0900-1730.
