Forge Talent are supporting a highly successful and continually evolving business as they look to further grow their finance team. The Assistant Accountant will directly support the Finance Manager with all finance month end preparations, taking ownership of processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency within the department. Previous experience gained within the property and construction sector, with exposure to CIS processes, VAT returns and intercompany accounting is highly advantageous. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Finance Professional looking to develop their career within a high performing team and environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Posting of month end journals
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts.
- Assist with the closing of monthly ledgers.
- Preparation of the monthly intercompany balances reconciliation.
- Management of the Company’s Fixed Asset Register including the posting of monthly depreciation charges.
- Preparation of weekly bank reconciliations and assist in weekly cashflow forecasting.
- Create and consolidate cost reports and appraisal working papers.
- Assist in preparing the finance section of the board pack, gathering reporting as required.
- Prepare and submit the Company’s VAT return.
- Prepare and submit the Company’s CIS return.
- Assist in the set-up of new Group entities.
- Oversee the Sales Ledger, ensuring that all sales invoices are raised and that the sales ledger control account is managed effectively.
- Support the purchase ledger team as required with processing invoices and making payment runs.
- Supporting with the annual audit.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar capacity with exposure to bank reconciliations, VAT returns and day to day accounting processes.
- Experience of CIS returns or exposure to working in the construction/property management sector is highly advantageous although not essential.
- Ideally working towards AAT or ACCA/CIMA qualifications with a desire to continue studying.
- An ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic approach to the role and developing in a finance career path.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise time sensitive deadlines as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with the wider business and external stakeholders and subcontractors.
- A right first time and paid on time mindset and approach, working to ensure that processes are completed accurately within set time periods.
- Excellent IT and computerised systems skills. Advanced excel abilities are required.
- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
