We are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Manager to join our client's team on a permanent basis.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Quality Manager will take overall responsibility for the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring close collaboration with production, engineering, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the company's Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and certification audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and quality issues using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and implement improvement plans where required.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards.
- Manage calibration systems and inspection equipment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the quality and inspection team.
- Support APQP, PPAP, FAI, and other customer quality requirements where applicable.
- Liaise directly with customers and suppliers regarding quality matters.
- Conduct risk assessments and support process improvement activities across the business.
- Champion a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Quality Manager or Senior Quality Engineer role within a precision engineering, CNC machining, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Experience of customer and certification audits.
- Excellent understanding of machining processes, engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with CMM inspection and quality measurement equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience using quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficient in quality reporting and documentation systems.
Desirable
- Experience within aerospace, defence, medical, or other highly regulated industries.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- Knowledge of AS9100 or other industry-specific quality standards.
- Experience managing a quality team within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
