About the Role
Forever Teaching are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in Oldham to recruit a committed and resilient Primary SEMH Teacher to join their team from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You will teach a small class of primary-aged pupils, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons while creating a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment where every child can thrive.
The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting pupils who may have experienced barriers to education and will have the ability to build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that meet the needs of pupils working at a range of abilities.
- Differentiate learning to support pupils with SEMH, SEND and additional learning needs.
- Create a positive, structured classroom environment with clear routines and high expectations.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.
- Monitor pupil progress through ongoing assessment and adapt teaching where required.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and carers to support each child's development.
- Promote pupils' emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence both inside and outside the classroom.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has experience teaching within a primary setting.
- Experience working within SEMH, SEND, PRU or Alternative Provision is desirable but not essential.
- Has strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.
- Is adaptable, resilient and committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
