Role Overview

Forever Teaching is currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming specialist SEND schools in Stockport, supporting pupils from primary through to secondary age.

These long-term opportunities are ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping children and young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

There is potential for permanent opportunities for the right candidates.

We welcome applications from experienced SEND Teaching Assistants as well as individuals from transferable backgrounds, including residential childcare, youth work, care, support work and mental health services.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Work with children and young people with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and complex learning difficulties.
  • Provide personal care support where required, promoting dignity and independence.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver individual learning and support plans.
  • Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Has experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals in education, care or support settings.
  • Is patient, resilient, compassionate and committed to making a positive difference.
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Is comfortable providing personal care support where required.
  • Has a genuine interest in SEND education.

Teaching Assistant qualifications are welcomed but not essential.
