About the Role

Forever Education is supporting a unique independent SEN group that provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational and neurodiverse learning needs. They are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant to join their school based in Stratford.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher virtually to deliver lessons and outcomes for pupils, including EHCP and other relevant documentation.
  • Collaboratively plan, deliver and monitor creative and innovative lessons and projects in accordance with the aims of the relevant documentation.
  • Liaise with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive risk assessment and management programme, providing appropriate supervision for all pupils.
  • Responsible for home/school liaison over matters of attendance, therapeutic support, behaviour support and academic progress.
  • Ensure that student attendance is reported daily at set times each day to attendance team and geographical cluster leads.
  • Act as the appropriate adult during working hours and until the pupil is handed over to another adult, in accordance with the Service Proposal.
  • Initiate a system of rewards to encourage achievement and development of self-esteem, drawing on a wide range of social care, therapeutic and teaching strategies.

Person Specification

  • Minimum of one year’s experience working directly with high risk and complex pupils in a recognised setting such as social work, youth work or education.
  • Experience in leading behaviour management, substantial experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, EBSA and knowledge of best practice supporting neurodiverse pupils.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of the National Curriculum, teaching, assessment and behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience of the importance of cultural identity, child protection guidance and safeguarding commitment.
