Job Overview

JELD‑WEN UK is seeking a Plant Manager based in Sheffield, UK to oversee all aspects of production activity in our new facility at Bessemer Park. The role reports to the Operations Director for the UK and is key to ensuring the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule, safely, and at minimum cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the workforce in a manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
  • Maintain safety and ethics, ensuring compliance with company values and a zero‑tolerance safety culture.
  • Drive quality, continuous improvement and Lean initiatives, embedding 5S and other Lean techniques.
  • Improve productivity, align operations to strategy, meet OTIF and scheduling targets, and collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • Own budgets, control costs, and deliver EBIT and profitability improvements.
  • Optimize inventory processes and efficiency.
  • Build, coach, and develop teams, setting targets, accountability and engagement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous Plant leadership experience in a medium to large size manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
  • Experience in a ‘Safety First’ culture with continuous safety improvement.
  • Proficiency in Lean techniques such as value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, cellular flow, mistake proofing and TPM.
  • Knowledge of interpreting key financial indicators for business decisions.
  • Experience with quality management systems and with SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system.
  • Experience leading a team and working within a disciplined, system‑controlled environment.
  • Desirable: experience in a Trade Union environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Knowledge of SAP and other manufacturing ERP systems is advantageous.

Salary and Pay

Starting Salary Range: (Minimum range to Mid‑range), reflecting the typical range for this role based on experience and skills. In line with the EU Pay Transparency Directive (EU) 2023/970, this range is set using objective, gender‑neutral criteria. Final salary depends on experience. We do not use pay history and are committed to equal pay, with transparent and objective pay decisions.
