We are looking for a Forest Craftsperson to join our Land Management team in West Calder. This is a permanent role offering the opportunity to work outdoors, contribute to sustainable forest management, and play an active part in caring for Scotland's national forests and land.

Our Land Management teams are responsible for delivering a wide range of forestry and environmental work — from planting and maintaining forests, to habitat restoration, peatland management, and supporting high-quality visitor facilities. The work we do contributes directly to Scotland's climate and biodiversity goals, while helping maintain safe, welcoming spaces for local communities and visitors.

As a Forest Craftsperson, you will carry out practical forest management and estate maintenance tasks including tree felling, fencing, planting, weed control, and maintenance of footpaths, signage, and visitor facilities. You will also support colleagues across harvesting, environment, and wildlife management teams when required, helping deliver materials, repair infrastructure, and maintain key sites. This role is hands-on, varied, and predominantly outdoors, requiring strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safe working practices.

To be successful, you will need experience of working outdoors in environments such as forestry, construction, or landscaping, as well as an understanding of health and safety in the workplace. You should be confident communicating with others, solving problems independently and as part of a team, and willing to undertake training to build skills. Industry certifications in chainsaw use, brushcutting, or pesticide application are desirable, but training can be provided.

You will need a full UK driving licence (or suitable alternative), and occasional travel across the region may be required.

If this sounds like a role you are interested in, we encourage you to apply with your CV – please ensure you provide evidence of the essential and desirable criteria detailed in the job description and success profile.
