The Planning Support Assistants based in Torlundy and Lochgilphead provide technical, administrative and fieldwork support to Forest Planners and the programming team. The role performs field surveys, data collection and GIS management with planning and consultation activities, helping to prepare forest plans, regulatory submissions and supporting documentation that underpin sustainable forest management across the region.

The West Region Planning Team is responsible for developing and maintaining Long Term Forest Plans, securing regulatory approvals, and ensuring forestry operations are planned and delivered sustainably. Working closely with operational and programme teams, the department balances commercial, environmental and stakeholder interests to support the long-term stewardship of the forest estate.

To be successful in this role you will have experience and knowledge of basic GIS skills and working with multi-disciplinary teams
