Forest School Practitioner

We are looking for a Forest School Practitioner to lead sessions on our school site and at an off‑site woodland location. This role is an embedded part of our ethos and builds on a successful year of forest education across the whole school.

Term and Compensation

1 day per week (5 hours a day with 1 hour unpaid lunch and 15 minute unpaid break) term time only.
Scale 5, point 10 FTE £27,694 PA, pro‑rata £3,122.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging, child‑led forest school sessions for groups of children from Reception to Year 6, with additional adult support.
  • Utilise a range of provided resources, including tools, fire, shelters and other outdoor equipment.
  • Manage two dedicated spaces: one within the school’s wildlife area and one in nearby woodlands.
  • Plan, execute, and adapt sessions to meet the needs and interests of each group, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain and restock required materials, ensuring activities are well‑equipped and ready for each session.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support learning outcomes and enhance the overall forest school experience.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 trained forest school practitioner.
  • Experience working across the full age range of reception to year 6 is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills, enthusiasm for outdoor learning, and ability to lead autonomously.

All appointments are subject to standard safeguarding and background checks, including DBS and reference verification. The successful candidate will be required to meet the safety and recruitment criteria applicable to the role.
