Forest School Practitioner
We are looking for a Forest School Practitioner to lead sessions on our school site and at an off‑site woodland location. This role is an embedded part of our ethos and builds on a successful year of forest education across the whole school.
Term and Compensation
1 day per week (5 hours a day with 1 hour unpaid lunch and 15 minute unpaid break) term time only.
Scale 5, point 10 FTE £27,694 PA, pro‑rata £3,122.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, child‑led forest school sessions for groups of children from Reception to Year 6, with additional adult support.
- Utilise a range of provided resources, including tools, fire, shelters and other outdoor equipment.
- Manage two dedicated spaces: one within the school’s wildlife area and one in nearby woodlands.
- Plan, execute, and adapt sessions to meet the needs and interests of each group, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
- Maintain and restock required materials, ensuring activities are well‑equipped and ready for each session.
- Collaborate with school staff to support learning outcomes and enhance the overall forest school experience.
Qualifications
- Level 3 trained forest school practitioner.
- Experience working across the full age range of reception to year 6 is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills, enthusiasm for outdoor learning, and ability to lead autonomously.
