Forest of Dean District Council is seeking an experienced RICS Registered Valuer with strong estates management expertise to act as the Council's lead professional for valuation and estates work. This is a varied and influential role, ideal for someone looking to apply their valuation skills while shaping how a diverse property portfolio is managed.

Reporting to the Property & Assets Manager, you will deliver high quality valuations for a wide range of asset types, support strategic and operational property decisions, and ensure the Council's landholdings are managed proactively and in line with best practice.

Alongside valuation work, you will lead on key estates activities including:

  • Lease events
  • Landlord and tenant matters
  • Rent reviews
  • Lease renewals
  • Licences
  • Negotiations
  • Management of consultants

You will prepare clear, professional reports and present informed recommendations to senior officers, committees, Cabinet and Council.

You will need:

  • Degree in a property related discipline or equivalent experience
  • RICS qualification with Registered Valuer status (or eligibility)
  • Extensive experience in valuation and estates management
  • Strong understanding of RICS valuation standards and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and report writing skills
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and work with a range of stakeholders
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and GIS
