About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Food & Beverage Assistant to join the Forest Green Rovers Food & Beverage Team, gaining industry experience and developing valuable skills. This position is perfect for individuals looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced setting, whether in catering, restaurants or other sectors. The successful candidate will be provided with support and training from our F&B Team; and have opportunities to develop their career within our team.

Shift pattern is generally 9.00am - 5.00pm Mon-Fri, but expected to work all matchdays (Saturdays) and occasional events in the evenings.

Overall Description of Duties

To deliver an excellent hospitality and bar experience throughout FGR, by working as part of a small team at The New Lawn.

Working hours

This is a full time Contract role (40 hours per week), with evening and weekend work as needed including Matchdays.

Specific Areas & Tasks

  • Responsibility for all bars & catering units onsite
  • Working closely with the Events Team at FGR, including weddings, corporate training, conferences and parties.
  • Support and organisation of bar and catering staff
  • Cleaning key equipment, including cellars, glass washers, fryers and line cleaning.
  • Implementation of a clear maintenance regime, to ensure optimum cost effectiveness whilst maintaining standards of quality and reliability
  • Stock management: placing orders, stock control and reporting
  • Cellar management, including stocking of bars, hospitality suites and outlets
  • Carrying out relevant training for staff onsite
  • Ensuring that all areas of responsibility are in line with Health & Safety legislation and good working practices.
  • Ensuring that environmental sustainability is at the heart of all activities
  • Supporting the catering team as part of the larger F&B operation
  • Assisting the club with any additional work as and when required
  • Supporting the F&B manager in all aspects of Matchday delivery

About You

As a valued member of our team, you will be focused on achieving great results and creating the best experience for our visitors and supporters.

Essential skills

  • Previous experience in a food and beverage environment is preferred but not essential
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards would be ideal
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, to cover Matchday fixtures and events
  • Have good communications skills and be able to work within the small FGR Team
  • Work off your own initiative, be creative and think outside the box
  • Passion for supporting a culture that demonstrates the club’s commitment to sustainability, equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Great customer service focus, with very effective communication skills

Other considerations

  • This role is subject to a background check and DBS check, prior to employment commencing
  • A full driving clean driving license is required
  • A high degree of flexibility is needed to work around the busy football calendar
