Based at our brand-new care home, Elm Lodge in Hartley Wintney, RG27 8JG. Newly opened, Elm Lodge is a 60-bedded care home providing residential care and offers a fantastic opportunity to set the foundations of an outstanding home. We are looking for a reliable Dining Assistant who wants to make a difference. At Forest Care, we are proud to create positive working environments in each of our care homes by encouraging employee participation and humour in the workplace. Salary £12.86 per hour. Flexibility required with shifts on various days of either 6am – 2pm or 12pm – 7pm. Please only apply if you live within a commutable distance to the care home and don’t require sponsorship as we are unable to offer it at this time. This is a ‘0’ hour contract covering ad-hoc shifts as and when required, offering lots of flexibility. We are a new home that is growing so part time and full time hours are likely to become available in the future if required. Candidates will need access to their own transport to apply for this role.

Main Duties of our Dining Assistants:

  • Support the Dining Supervisor and other Catering staff to deliver all catering services throughout the Home, ensuring resident choice, dignity and safety is maintained.
  • Provide feedback to the Dining Supervisor to Hospitality Manager about complaints and compliments from residents and visitors on the food and service.
  • Address all complaints promptly and ensure they are reported.
  • Ensure complete awareness of menu content and all service procedures.
  • Deliver prepared food from the kitchen to the Dining Room, or appropriate area, and serve meals to residents and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic working environment at all times.
  • Clean the Dining Room following service and ensure all kitchen items are returned to the kitchen for washing up.
  • Reset tables, tidy work areas and leave the Dining Room clean, hygienic and inviting for the next service.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

Skills and Experience of our Dining Assistants:

  • Previous experience in food service would be advantageous
  • Ability to communicate with residents, families, visitors and other team members
  • A friendly and cheerful disposition
  • High level of written and spoken English – Essential
  • To have, and maintain high standards of work
