We’re recruiting a Head of Future Development to lead on the development of a masterplan to help build on our current success and realise Westonbirt, the National Arboretum’s Vision to be a world leader in trees, inspiring people through conservation, education and participation. You will develop an implementation plan to deliver the masterplan, which will include capital development but also where relevant weaving in related activity programmes that help support the Vision and secure funding.

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is one of the world’s finest temperate tree collections and an internationally important historic landscape of incredible beauty. The arboretum is also a major visitor attraction and thriving community, with over 600,000 visits per year and almost 40,000 members. The arboretum is one of the largest pay-to-enter visitor attractions in the Southwest, the onsite businesses generate a turnover of more than £14m. Our activities are supported by almost 400 passionate volunteers, covering 23 different roles. Along with one of the most complete examples of a picturesque landscape, Westonbirt's Silk Wood is designated ancient woodland and home to numerous nationally important ancient woodland features.

Alongside your salary, Forestry England contributes an average of 28.97% towards your pension. You will become a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme. 25 days holiday a year, raising by one day every year’s service, up to 30 days (pro-rated for part time employees) plus additional days off such as bank holidays.
