Our client is a very well established and successful multi-regional Property services main contractor with an established reputation across the South West market and beyond. Typical contracts areplanned maintenance framework projects for Social Housing providers and can cover internals and externalelements. The company has a healthy pipeline of work for and can offer excellent career progression and development.
Senior Commercial Manager – The Role:
This is a Senior leadership position at Group level, overseeing commercial teams across the South West in various offices/business units. You will be directly responsable for managing and mentoring Quantity Surveyors, working closely with operatonal leadership teams and reporting to the Group Commecial Director.
- Overseeing Teams of Quantity Surveyors in multiple locations
- Lead the managementWIPs within agreed timescales.
- Produce & validate invoicing projections on a monthly basis, liaising with Operations Managers & the commercial team as needed.
- Manage team productivity to deliver required volume of invoicing within agreed targets & projections.
- Minimise application queries, resolve and retrain as needed.
- Manage and review the Low Margin / Loss Making process.
- Work within and promote compliance to the Delegated Authority Matrix across all areas of the business.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with the commercial team.
- Prepare and submit commercial reporting as requested; monthly reporting to SMT & Board as required.
- Responsible for the preparation and collation of forecasts working with Contract Managers & Operations Managers as requested by the Directors.
- Provide accurate information in relation to contract performance, margins, WIP and target reporting from a commercial perspective.
- Promote and develop better ways of working within the commercial teams
- Supporting the Operational lead and Commercial Director at all times with accurate detailed information and updates as require
- Liaise with clients both internal and external as needed to promote good relationships, representing, and protecting the business in all commercial aspect
- Assist with bids, pricing and quality as requested
- Any other commercial or pricing related tasks as instructed by the Board.
Senior Commercial Manager – The Person
- You will have solid experience with either a national or regional main contractor
- RICS qualified would be advantageous, with NHF & SoR experience.
- Experience of working within the Social Housing sector would be great but not mandatory if you have come from other industries with transferable skills and knowledge happy to consider.
- Experience in reporting to senior Directors, setting targets, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines is a must along with good team management skills
- Maintenance experience beneficial but not essential
- Experience managing Quantity Surveyors
- Innovative – ability to identify better ways of doing things
