A well-established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint a Project Manager to lead delivery on a major construction project in South Wales. The company delivers a broad range of large-scale construction projects across multiple sectors, with schemes typically exceeding ÂŁ10m in value. With a strong reputation, secure pipeline of work, and long-term growth plans, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and progressive business.
This role will involve managing the demolition of an existing building followed by the full new-build construction phase, including significant groundworks and steel frame elements. You will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion, managing site teams, subcontractors, programme, health & safety, and client relationships.
The role would suit an experienced Project Manager with a strong main contracting background and proven experience delivering complex new-build projects involving demolition, enabling works, groundworks, and steel frame construction. A strong understanding of projects “out of the ground” is essential, with solid civils and infrastructure knowledge required.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the project from demolition through to final handover
- Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget
- Oversee programme management and short-term planning
- Manage client communication and stakeholder relationships
- Drive quality standards and ensure compliance across all phases
- Monitor commercial performance alongside the commercial team
- Chair site meetings and provide regular progress reporting
- Ensure strong health & safety culture is maintained throughout delivery
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within main contracting
- Strong new-build construction background
- Must be technically strong “out of the ground” with solid civils, groundworks, and infrastructure knowledge
- Experience managing demolition, groundworks, and steel frame packages
- Track record delivering projects in excess of ÂŁ10m
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
- Strong communication and client-facing ability
- Major long-term project with a respected contractor
- Strong pipeline of future work across South Wales and the South West
- Good level of autonomy and responsibility
