The Company

Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor delivering long-term water infrastructure works across the South West. Operating on secure framework agreements with a strong pipeline of repeat work, the business offers genuine long-term stability and career progression. Projects are focused around water infrastructure and utilities works, including mains renewal and replacement schemes across both urban and rural environments. Works vary from street-based projects through to larger open-area installations, typically ranging up to £500k in value. The Role

This is an opportunity for either a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of live projects operating under an NEC Option C framework. You will oversee between 10–15 schemes simultaneously, managing the commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account. The role will also involve supporting with pricing and valuation of additional works across the framework. This position would suit someone already working within civil engineering or utilities, but equally someone from a main contracting background who is used to overseeing multiple live projects and wants to move into a sector offering long-term secured work and stability.

Typical duties & responsibilities:

  • Commercial management of multiple live framework projects
  • Managing subcontractor procurement and payments
  • Cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
  • Administration of NEC Option C contracts
  • Pricing and valuing additional works
  • Supporting operational teams with commercial advice
  • Managing change control and compensation events
  • Working closely with delivery teams and clients
  • Assisting with final accounts and financial close-out

The Person

  • Main contracting or civil engineering background
  • Experience overseeing multiple live projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of NEC contracts preferred
  • Strong commercial and organisational skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with operational teams
  • Water or utilities experience beneficial but not essential
