The Company
Our client is a successful and growing civil engineering contractor delivering essential infrastructure projects across the South West. With a secured pipeline of long-term framework agreements and a strong reputation within the utilities sector, they offer excellent job security, career development and a supportive team environment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint either a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in the Bristol area.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects delivered under long-term water infrastructure frameworks. Typical works include water mains renewals, infrastructure upgrades and associated civil engineering projects delivered across both urban and rural environments. This opportunity is suitable for either:
- A Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a stable and growing sector
- A Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking greater responsibility within a successful framework delivery team
Key responsibilities include:
- Commercial management of multiple live projects
- Subcontract procurement and management
- Preparation and agreement of applications, valuations and final accounts
- Cost reporting, forecasting and budget control
- Management of compensation events and contractual change
- Pricing and commercial assessment of additional works
- Client liaison and stakeholder management
- Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements
- Supporting continuous improvement across commercial processes
Requirements
- Degree, HND or HNC qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Full UK driving licence
- For Quantity Surveyor level (£45,000 - £55,000), candidates from building, refurbishment, infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering backgrounds will be considered
- For Senior Quantity Surveyor level (£5,000 - £70,000), candidates must have previous NEC contract experience and/or a background within water, utilities or civil engineering projects
