Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: Slough Salary: £30,000 to £45,000 + 10% car allowance + benefits package Sector: Main Contractor, New Build, £25m Start Date: ASAP The Company: Our client is one of the fastest growing and most sought after main contractors in the country with strong regional presence across the South East, South West, Midlands and North West of England. The company is one of the leading builders of large-scale distribution and warehouse projects and complex lifescience and R&D buildings for leading blue chip clients with project values up to £120m+. Assistant Quantity Surveyor – The Role: A fantastic opportunity within the established South East region for an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team. You will be responsible for assisting a Senior QS in the day to day commercial aspects of a £25m new build project in Slough as lead Assistant QS. You must have experience working for a main contractor on new build projects and be commutable to Slough without relocation. Typical duties & responsibilities: * To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project. * Help to prepare the cost / value reconciliation reports accurately * Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company. * Assist in-agreeing final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins. * Ensure subcontract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and / or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals. * Maintain control of subcontractor`s accounts and minimise the cost of any variations. * Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence. * To carry out duties as quantity surveyor on projects as instructed. * To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project in their control. * Prepare or assist with cost / value reconciliation reports on a monthly basis accurately reporting the forecast final financial position of the project. * Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast. Assistant Quantity Surveyor – The Person * HND or BSc Degree in a related course * You will have at least 2 years experience as Assistant QS * Strong negotiation skills * Demonstrable experience of working on new build construction projects * Experience working for a main contractor is essential * Commutable to slough * Innovative – ability to identify better ways of doing things * A good team player, someone who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals.
