A well-established and highly regarded national main contractor is looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its growing South West commercial team based at Aztec West. The business delivers a strong pipeline of residential construction projects, with a particular focus on social housing developments delivered in partnership with housing associations and public sector clients. Schemes are typically medium to large scale residential developments ranging from around 100 to 350 units. With continued growth in the region and a strong order book of secured work, the company is looking for an experienced commercial professional to take a leadership role within the team.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager / Commercial Director, the Managing Quantity Surveyor will take overall commercial responsibility for multiple residential development projects across the South West. You will oversee the commercial delivery of around five live projects at any one time, leading and supporting a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors while maintaining strong commercial control across the portfolio.
Typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Oversee the commercial delivery of approximately five live residential development projects ranging from 100–350 units
- Manage and mentor Senior Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors across the project portfolio
- Ensure robust contract administration and commercial control across all projects
- Oversee procurement strategy and subcontractor appointments
- Monitor project costs, forecasts and cost/value reconciliations
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Work closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
- Provide clear and accurate commercial reporting to senior management
You will have a strong background working for a main contractor, ideally with experience delivering residential or social housing developments. You will be confident managing contracts, leading commercial teams and taking responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple projects. The business is looking for someone commercially sharp, proactive and driven, with the leadership ability to guide commercial teams and deliver successful project outcomes.
£75,000 – £82,000 salary depending on experience
