A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established, multi-regional main contractor with an excellent reputation across the South West. The company delivers a range of high-quality construction projects across the Education and Commercial sectors, typically ranging up to £20m in value. With a strong pipeline of work and a growing regional presence, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team based from their North Bristol office. This contractor is known for delivering quality projects, maintaining long-term client relationships and providing a professional, collaborative working environment.
As Estimator you will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate tenders across a range of Education and Commercial construction projects. Working closely with the pre-construction, design and operational teams, you will play a key role in securing new work and supporting the continued growth of the business. You will be involved in the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring costs are accurately assessed and opportunities are identified.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Producing accurate take-offs and pricing exercises
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving options
- Working closely with the pre-construction and operational teams during tender stages
- Attending tender meetings and contributing to bid strategy
- Ensuring tenders are submitted accurately and within deadlines
- Supporting handover of successful projects to the delivery team
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as an Estimator for a main contractor
- Experience pricing construction projects within the Education or Commercial sectors
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and project delivery
- Excellent analytical and commercial skills
- Ability to review technical drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
