FTS is looking for an individual with a passion for delivering high-quality work to join our Sample Preparation Team! This interesting and fast-paced role provides much variation in the day-to-day support of processing case samples. Because we provide full, in-house training, we are excited to employ people from a range of different scientific backgrounds and offer opportunities for progression within the company.
This is a hands-on role, processing client samples and gathering observations and data to pass onto the Laboratory Team for analytical processing.
About FTS: FTS provide expert drug and alcohol reports to support family law court proceedings. We are the leading company in our sector, holding best practice status. FTS is one of Analytical Expert Laboratory’s four companies, and you will be joining a dedicated, professional group, committed to supporting accurate and reliable laboratory analysis. Our goal is to ensure the safety of children across the country from drug and alcohol abuse in the home.
What will you do in this role? Your main duties will be to prepare hair, nail, blood, and urine samples collected from adults and children involved in family law court proceedings. You will use specialist techniques to align scalp hair, which allows for accurate segmentation into different time periods. We work to strict SOPs, in line with UKAS ISO/IEC 17025, and we are diligent in recording sample observations using our bespoke laboratory software. We have a strong team ethic and work together to achieve our targets. You will be contributing to ensure our accurate, and detailed, reports arrive with customers by their due date.
What you need:
- Have a determined attitude toward learning and continuous self-development
- Utmost attention to detail
- High numeracy and communication skills to record observations and data accurately
- A high level of dexterity and precision in helping to prepare client samples
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- BSc in relevant discipline (E.g. Forensics, Biological, Biomedical) (required)
- Experience working in a professional laboratory working to ISO/IEC 17025 standards (desired)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (occasional weekend availability when required) 37.5 hour week, days starting between 7:00am and 9:30am 8 hour shift.
