At FCDO SERVICES we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a range of related activities. You will join a friendly HR team focused on providing advice and support to colleagues to uphold excellent people management practices and maintain positive employee relations.
Base pay range
Salary: £46,224 – £51,518 plus a location allowance of £1,750 and excellent benefits

Responsibilities
You’ll focus on providing colleagues with the advice and support they need to uphold excellent people management practices and maintain positive employee relations. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead casework advisor on a wide range of complex issues including grievance, disciplinary, absence and performance, up to and including dismissals and preparation for Employment Tribunals.
- Monitor trends and remedial action for issues affecting efficiency and performance.
- Develop strong, consultative relationships with managers, trade unions and HR colleagues; provide education, awareness and coaching on employee relations policy.
- Ensure knowledge of HR and Employment Law is up to date and provide guidance on latest policies, practices and procedures.
Use all your HR skills with an organisation that helps to keep the country secure
- Extensive experience in employee relations and project management.
- Well-developed knowledge of employment law; Level 7 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong influencing and communication skills; ability to support on projects and peak workloads.
- Awareness of civil service HR policies and controls; ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues; experience working with trade unions is advantageous.
- Confident user of IT, with focus on Microsoft software.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience in employee relations and project management.
- Strong knowledge of employment law; Level 7 CIPD or equivalent.
- Excellent influencing and communication skills.
- Ability to work with managers, unions and HR colleagues; coaching and mentoring skills desirable.
- IT literate, particularly Microsoft Office suite.
