About Us
Forefront RF is a fabless semiconductor company developing breakthrough RF technology that radically simplifies RF front‑end architectures for mobile and connected devices. Our long‑term vision is to empower anyone to treat global connectivity as a commodity, effortlessly adding it to any device. We lead through innovation, solving our customers' toughest challenges and enabling them to stay ahead by pushing the boundaries of RF design.
Location: Cambridge, UK
Team: New Product Introduction
Job Type: Permanent, Full‑Time
Role Overview
You will sit at the intersection of product definition, engineering execution, and customer readiness, ensuring our RF modules and IC‑based solutions transition smoothly from concept and development into robust, manufacturable, testable, and customer‑ready products. You will work with all teams across the organisation and will own the product integrity across its lifecycle: translating requirements into clear engineering deliverables, safeguarding performance and quality, and acting as a technical bridge between design, test, software, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Definition & Requirements: Translate market, customer, and system‑level requirements into clear product requirements and engineering specifications. Maintain ownership of product‑level specifications, performance targets, use cases, and assumptions. Ensure alignment between product requirements and system architecture decisions. Support definition of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and phased feature roadmaps.
- Engineering Execution & Integration: Act as the technical focal point for a product across disciplines (RF, IC, software, algorithms, test, and packaging). Ensure consistency and traceability between requirements, design choices, simulations, measurements, and validation results. Support design reviews, trade‑off discussions, and risk assessments at product level. Identify integration risks early and drive mitigation plans.
- Validation, Test & Customer Readiness: Define and own product‑level validation strategies, including lab testing, over‑the‑air testing, and corner‑case verification. Work with test engineering to ensure test coverage aligns with product specifications and customer expectations. Support generation of datasheets, application notes, reference designs, and performance reports. Ensure products are demonstrably ready for customer evaluation and sampling.
- Manufacturing & NPI Support: Collaborate with NPI, assembly, and manufacturing partners to ensure product robustness, yield, and scalability. Support design‑for‑manufacturability (DfM), design‑for‑test (DfT) considerations. Assist in root‑cause analysis of production or qualification issues.
- Cross‑Functional Communication: Serve as a clear communication bridge between engineering teams and non‑technical stakeholders. Support business development and sales by providing deep technical insight during customer engagements. Contribute to internal documentation, decision logs, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
About you: You're excited by the opportunity to work with breakthrough technologies and may thrive in this role if you have some or all of the following:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong experience in RF systems, RF modules, or mixed‑signal/analog IC‑based products. Hands‑on understanding of RF measurements, validation, and performance trade‑offs. Experience working in cross‑functional engineering environments. Ability to translate high‑level requirements into practical engineering actions. Strong systems‑level thinking with attention to detail.
- People Skills: Structured, organized, and comfortable owning product‑level outcomes. Clear communicator who can bridge disciplines and seniority levels. Pragmatic problem solver with a bias toward execution. Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, scale‑up environment.
- Nice to Have: Experience in RF front‑end modules for mobile, IoT, or wireless connectivity applications. Familiarity with product lifecycle stages: concept, prototyping, customer samples, qualification, and release. Exposure to manufacturing, assembly, and test flows for semiconductor or RF module products. Experience supporting customer engagements or field applications activities.
