The predicted salary is between 15 - 20 £ per hour.

Main purpose of the role: Ensuring that Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality procedures and supporting technical documents comply with recognised industry standards and all relevant legislation.

Main tasks:

  • Maintaining operating procedures with the appropriate levels of control and hygiene required by our customers in the health & beauty sector and ISO22716 (Cosmetic GMP).
  • Authorisation of Product Specifications for finished products.
  • Review of Batch Manufacturing Records to ensure compliance with agreed specifications.
  • Management and training of staff responsible for in-process QC testing of finished products.
  • Management of the Internal Audit programme.
  • Responsible for maintaining SHEQ Policies & Procedures and ensuring compliance with current legislation and relevant standards.
  • Completing risk assessments for equipment, manufacturing procedures and the working environment to ensure staff safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with SMETA standards for ethical trading.
  • Being the primary point of contact with external auditors (Quality, Health & Safety, Ethical, Chain of Custody).
  • Maintaining the technical details (raw materials and finished products) as required to demonstrate product safety and substantiate environmental claims.
  • Liaising with third party testing companies to ensure compliance with purchasing specifications and current regulations.
  • Approval of suppliers and review of supplier performance.
  • Management of the Customer Complaints Procedures and identifying root causes for compliance failures and updating SOPs to drive better performance.
  • Key part of management team responsible for Operational Excellence and reporting results of KPIs for SHEQ.

Key skills and characteristics:

  • Broad technical and operational experience gained in a regulated/hygienic manufacturing environment (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food or similar manufacturing environment).
  • A trained auditor in a relevant field of SHEQ.
  • A proven ability to drive continual improvement/ excellence in a manufacturing environment.
  • A knowledge of nonwoven textiles and their technical specifications would be a great advantage in this role but is not essential.
  • Ability to generate clear & concise operating procedures and communicate details of these procedures to members of the production team.
  • Organised & disciplined individual who demonstrates the necessary attention to detail and accuracy in preparing technical documents.
