We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team, working on special purpose, high-speed machinery delivered to customers worldwide. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in special purpose control systems, incorporating PLC-control systems, including (but not limited to) Siemens S7 and/or Rockwell ControlLogix. Experience with servo drive applications would be a strong advantage. A strong understanding of current safety and design regulations for special purpose machinery alongside a collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach is essential to the success of this role. Regular engagement and clear communication with customers are also key. The role includes some intermittent international travel, providing the opportunity to support installations and work directly with customers on upgrade projects (approx. 4-5 times per year, for around a week at a time).
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of complex, bespoke engineering projects, work collaboratively with experienced colleagues, and see your designs delivered to customers worldwide.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out electrical, pneumatic design
- Carrying out the validation of all designs to the current safety standards and requirements
- Supporting CE certification of all equipment
- Carrying out design studies and reviews and preparation of specifications for special applications
- Completion of the FAT document and 'as-built' electrical documentation
- Assisting with engineering queries and manufacturing quality issues as required
- Support installation, troubleshooting visits at customer sites worldwide, working closely with Service and Aftercare teams
Skills and Experience:
- Essential Experience designing electrical control systems for special purpose machinery
- Experience designing safety control systems and validation using appropriate software
- Good understanding of AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience in compiling BOM's and MRP uploads
- Knowledge of safety equipment and standards
- Working with end users to confirm functionality specifications and interface requirements
Desirable:
- Experienced in creating risk assessments and designing safety circuits to meet appropriate SIL level
- Motion control system design

Remuneration:
