Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Media Relations, the Assistant Sports Information Director will be the primary media contact for assigned varsity sports. This position requires frequent travel, as well as evening and weekend hours.
Essential Functions
- Assists with administering all media services for the Athletic Department, designing and editing media guides and game programs, coordinating interviews, producing press releases and game notes, and recording statistical information.
- Manages media relations event and game-day activities.
- Maintains and updates the athletic website to include scores, rosters, schedules, articles, press releases, statistics, and game notes.
- Responsible for incorporating statistics and video streaming for selected sports.
- Provides conference offices with required information for weekly releases and announcements.
- Assists the Athletic Department in its communication and public relations initiatives with the Office of Public Affairs.
- Assists with the preparation and editing of scripts and publications for Athletic Department special events.
- Complies with all NCAA, Atlantic 10, and University rules and regulations.
Management Responsibilities
- Not responsible for supervision or oversight of others.
Additional Functions
- Operates University-owned or leased vehicles to transport students, staff, and/or equipment in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and insurance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or other related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a collegiate sports information office or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Computer experience with Photoshop, PageMaker/InDesign and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of NCAA Genius and Statcrew software programs.
- High level organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and motivation to building a successful program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.

Maximum Starting Salary
$80,000
