Reporting to the Director of Practicum Education, the Senior Practicum Education Specialist provides curriculum, placement, and assessment expertise in accordance with Graduate School of Social Work ( GSS ) policies and professional practice competencies. This role supports effective practicum operations by identifying, coordinating, and securing agency placements for students across all programs and campuses. Assists in the training, advisement, and evaluation of Adjunct Practicum Advisors. The position requires periodic travel and occasional evening and weekend work.
Essential Functions
- Cultivates, evaluates, and formalizes new practicum placement sites and agency partnerships.
- Guides, advises, and supports students through the placement process, educating them on GSS policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Mediates and resolves challenges or issues that arise for students, Practicum Advisors, and agency sites.
- Assists in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, orientations, manuals, and departmental materials for students, advisors, and agency instructors.
- Ensures timely completion and submission of student Practicum evaluations and grade each semester.
- Modes and fosters respect for diversity, equality, and inclusion in all relationships, communications, and operations.
- Develops effective communication with stakeholders.
- Contributes to innovative projects and program development initiatives designed to strengthen the practicum curriculum.
- Ensures all placements and processes comply with CSWE accreditation, student privacy, accessibility, academic integrity, and university policies.
- Administers, inputs, and maintains precise student, agency, and placement records within department databases to ensure secure data management.
- Participates in program evaluation, collects assessment data, and generate progress reports.
- Ensures the accuracy and integrity of data entry in GSS /University data systems, in accordance with FERPA regulations.
- Supports the planning and execution of GSS and practicum events, including orientations, training workshops, and graduation activities.
- Participate in GSS , university, and practicum team meetings.

Additional Functions
- Collaborates with Adjunct Practicum Advisors to ensure compliance with the Council on Social Work Education ( CSWE ) accreditation standards.
- Assists in the monitoring of Adjunct Practicum Advisors to ensure timely site visits, quality advising, and compliant seminar facilitation.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
MSW degree from a CSWE -accredited social work program
Minimum of three years post- MSW professional experience

- Familiarity with the metro NY area and surrounding counties’ provider/agency systems
