Finance Manager

This is a high‑impact, hybrid role at the centre of a fast‑scaling, regulated banking environment. You’ll own core financial control processes while also driving forward‑looking insight, planning, and commercial decision support. It’s a breadth role for someone who thrives in pace, wants real ownership, and can operate across both the technical and commercial sides of finance.

You’ll sit in a lean, flat team where judgement matters, data flows fast, and finance is deeply connected to product, risk, operations, and customer outcomes.

What You’ll Own

  • Deliver accurate month‑end close, including journals, reconciliations, substantiation, and control checks.
  • Own key balance sheet and P&L lines, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and IFRS compliance.
  • Maintain high‑quality documentation, audit trails, and controls suitable for a regulated banking environment.
  • Support production of statutory accounts and regulatory submissions
  • Lead investigations into variances, control breaks, and data issues, driving remediation and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with external auditors, managing queries and ensuring a controlled, timely close.

FP&A, Insight & Commercial Support

  • Analyse customer behaviour, product economics, and unit economics to highlight risks, opportunities, and required interventions.
  • Partner with Product, Risk, and Operations to ensure financial data is consistent, reconciled, and aligned across the bank.
  • Support pricing, profitability analysis, and business cases for new initiatives.
  • Build models that help the bank understand performance, sensitivity, and strategic options.

Process, Systems & Change

  • Improve finance processes to make them faster, cleaner, and more scalable as the bank grows.
  • Contribute to enhancements across core systems (ledger, planning tools, reporting platforms).
  • Strengthen the financial control framework, identifying gaps and implementing improvements.
  • Ensure financial processes adhere to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Support development of MI packs for ExCo, Board, and regulatory committees.

About You

Experience & Background

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in financial control, audit, or financial reporting, ideally within banking, lending, or regulated FS.
  • Exposure to FP&A, commercial finance, or performance analysis.
  • Experience working with complex datasets and financial systems.
  • Prior experience in a challenger bank, fintech, or high‑growth FS environment is highly desirable.

Skills & Mindset

  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, but commercially aware and able to prioritise what matters.
  • Comfortable switching between technical accounting depth and forward‑looking commercial insight.
  • Proactive, improvement‑minded, and confident challenging the status quo.
  • Strong communicator who can work effectively with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Product, Operations, and Technology.
