Forde Recruitment, a leading provider of industrial staff in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, is seeking an experienced Press Operative in Sheffield.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe and responsible manner and within FSG procedures for own and other people’s safety.
  • Ensure all Quality procedures and processes are followed.
  • Pre-shift checks as specified; for example: FLT, Hoist, Crane, etc.
  • Housekeeping (5S duties).
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks.
  • Operate 5600T press and supporting roles within the cell which include:
  • Operate the Andromat.
  • Control room (furnace and forge management).
  • Pyrometry checks.
  • Carry out visual and dimensional checks on forgings and hard mark with identification.
  • Working 1500T knockdown / trim and punch operations.
  • Building dies and tooling for 600T and 1500T presses.
  • Ensure furnaces are loaded correctly with control plans completed.

Experience, Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience of working in a forging/pressing environment would be beneficial.
  • Must be flexible, willing to work across different roles and shift patterns.
  • Familiar with computer control systems.
  • Worked in a medium to heavy factory environment.
  • Have worked in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to understand / interpret drawings and use measuring equipment (training can be given).
  • Organised and methodical approach to each task.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to work effectively without constant supervision.
  • Ambition to progress.

Rate: £14.50 - £17.70 | Hours: 37.5
