Forde Recruitment, a leading provider of industrial staff in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join their expanding team. The ideal candidate will come from a furniture or timber product manufacturing background and possess strong mechanical expertise, supported by a working knowledge of electrical systems. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of our machinery and ensuring minimal downtime across production.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all machinery and equipment
- Develop and implement structured maintenance programs
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on timber manufacturing machinery
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Catalogue spare parts and manage stock levels of consumables
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Participate actively as a member of the Health & Safety Team
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and best practices
Equipment Experience (Desirable)
- Saws
- Edge banders
- CNC machines
- Other timber processing and manufacturing equipment
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role within timber, furniture, or related manufacturing
- Strong mechanical skills with basic electrical knowledge
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving
Hours 8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 3pm on Friday.
