Forde Recruitment, a leading provider of industrial staff in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, is seeking an experienced Press Operative in Sheffield. Responsibility for forge operating and tending machines that shape or form metal. The Press Operator must set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machines to produce parts that meet customer specifications and company standards. They must also inspect parts for defects and ensure that parts meet quality control standards.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Health and Safety - Work in a safe and responsible manner and within FSG procedures (for own and other people's safety).
  • Ensure all Quality procedures and processes are followed.
  • Pre-shift checks as specified; for example: FLT, Hoist, Crane, etc.
  • Housekeeping (5s duties).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks.
  • Operate 5600T press and supporting roles within the cell which include:
  • Operating the Andromat.
  • Control room (furnace and forge management).
  • Pyrometry checks.
  • Carry out visual and dimensional checks on forgings and hard mark with identification.
  • Working 1500T knockdown / trim and punch operations.
  • Building dies and tooling for 600T and 1500T presses.
  • Ensure furnaces are loaded correctly with control plans completed.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Experience in a similar role is preferred.
