Mechanical Fitter required to join a specialist team responsible for the upkeep of Rail Head Treatment Trains (RHTT) – vital on-track machinery used to clear leaf fall, debris, and contaminants from the rail network during autumn and winter seasons. This is a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to work at the heart of rail operations, ensuring the safe and efficient running of trains across the UK. You’ll be working on high-pressure water jetting systems, sanding units, and other mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components that make up the RHTT fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on RHTT units.
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct pre-season preparation and post-season decommissioning.
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure timely deployment and reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.
- Adhere to safety standards and rail industry regulations.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in Rail, Plant, HGV, Automotive, or similar Engineering (RHTT experience desirable but not essential).
- Strong Mechanical Fitter skills.
- Ability to work shifts during peak season.
- Proficient in the use of hand held and power tools.
