Job Title: Repair Bay HGV Technician (Day Shift / Night Shift)

Salary: £19.75 per hour (Days) | £24.69 per hour (Nights)
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Trailer Technician to join a leading manufacturer in Cheshire. Working within the onsite Vehicle Maintenance Unit, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of HGV trailers, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in trailer repairs and maintenance, along with a solid understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems.
Working Hours
Day Shift
41.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4:30pm
Friday: 7:30am to 3:30pm
30-minute unpaid lunch break daily
Night Shift
39 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 7:45pm to 6:00am
30-minute unpaid break per shift
Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required to support business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGV trailers.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Perform safety inspections in accordance with industry regulations and company standards.
- Utilise diagnostic equipment to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
- Complete service documentation, job cards, and compliance records accurately.
- Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Support workshop colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety at all times.
Skills & Experience Required
We're looking for a hands-on, proactive, and organised individual with a passion for delivering high-quality workmanship.
Essential
- Proven experience in HGV, trailer, or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, braking systems, suspension, and general trailer mechanics.
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and the ability to read wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification.
- Class 1 or Class 2 HGV Licence.
- Experience within a commercial vehicle workshop or fleet maintenance environment.
