An exciting opportunity to join CAF Rail Services at their brand-new overhaul facility in Manchester, working with state-of-the-art equipment in a modern, purpose-built environment.
You will be responsible for carrying out painting and shot blasting activities on rolling stock components, playing a key role in the refurbishment process. This position is critical in ensuring components are prepared and finished to the highest standards, consistently meeting strict quality and technical specifications.
Key Duties:- Carry out shot blasting of components and assemblies to required surface preparation standards
- Operate and maintain blast equipment and booths safely and efficiently
- Support paint spraying activities, including application of primers and topcoats
- Undertake surface preparation, including cleaning and masking
- Perform basic quality checks (e.g. surface profile, finish quality)
- Work to technical drawings, specifications, and processes
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment
- Proven experience in shot blasting / abrasive blasting
- Understanding of surface preparation standards
- Ability to follow technical instructions and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Health & safety awareness when working with blasting equipment
- Experience in industrial paint spraying (e.g. 2-pack, epoxy coatings)
- Background in sectors such as rail, automotive, or structural steel
- Knowledge of coating thickness measurement or inspection tools
