We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to perform maintenance, servicing, and breakdown work across a diverse fleet of locomotives and freight vehicles. You’ll be joining an organisation on a permanent basis who are dedicated to keeping the UK rail network running safely and efficiently.

This role offers the chance to develop into a fully qualified Mechanical Fitter through extensive training and upskilling. You’ll work hands-on with a wide range of rail vehicles, including locomotives and freight wagons, carrying out essential maintenance, servicing, and repair tasks.

As a Mechanical Fitter you will be:

  • Confident working with mechanical components such as brakes, suspension systems, and wheelsets.
  • Comfortable using a variety of hand tools, including torque wrenches, and physically capable of operating them safely and effectively.
  • Someone with a mechanical mindset and willingness to learn (full training provided).

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical, electrical, or engineering discipline (does not need to be rail-specific).
  • Availability to work on Saturdays.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing, along with full medical screening.
