Mobile Mechanical Fitters required to complete maintenance, exams and breakdowns to various fleets of trains. To succeed in this role, you will ideally have experience in an automotive position such as HGV or PSV. Alternatively, perhaps you worked as a Mechanic on light vehicles or light goods vehicles or cars. Maybe you worked on heavy machinery, large pumps, large conveyors and are looking for a career change. Or maybe you are ex-forces or in the forces looking to join civilian life, then this could be the opportunity you have been looking for!
Location: Base location: East Midlands (commutable to Derby + Nottingham). Will require travel to different locations.
Shifts: Working a mixture of days afters, nights, and some weekends on a fixed 14 week rolling rota.
Salary: Salary for this role is up to £42,000 + overtime.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Complete maintenance activities to locomotives and rolling stock.
- Undertake mechanical and some electrical repairs to fleets of trains.
- Carry out unsupervised tasks.
- Ensure relevant maintenance exams are completed safely.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working on diesel engines and a strong understanding of mechanical maintenance, along with an electrical appreciation. A full UK driving licence is essential. You will need to be flexible and feel comfortable with staying away from home, as this may be required on occasions. You will need to be a self-starter, able to work alone and to tight deadlines ensuring all relevant work is completed correctly.

- Relevant experience as a heavy mechanical fitter.
- Knowledge & experience in mechanical and minor electrical repairs and inspections.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Flexible, and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- NVQ level 3 in engineering discipline.
