About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and highly organised Project Engineer to join a growing infrastructure and engineering team.

This is a varied role combining project management, contract administration, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight across multiple projects nationwide.

Projects are typically short-term, ranging from 2 to 4 weeks in duration, providing excellent variety and exposure to different environments and challenges.

The role will involve a combination of office-based work, site visits, and occasional overnight stays depending on project locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery & Management
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously from planning through to completion.
  • Develop project plans, programmes, risk assessments, quality assurance documentation, and site completion schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Commercial & Contract Management
  • Assist in preparing competitive project bids and tenders.
  • Support contract reviews and contractual compliance activities.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, tender evaluations, and contract administration.
  • Prepare and manage contractual documentation including variations, RFIs, EOTs, and claims.
  • Financial Management
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability.
  • Prepare project reports and progress updates for senior management.
  • Support forecasting activities and cost control initiatives.
  • Ensure timely submission of applications, invoices, and commercial documentation.
  • Health, Safety & Quality
  • Implement and maintain site-specific health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and zero-harm safety performance.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in project management, engineering, or construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft 365 and related business systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in civil engineering survey and design.
  • Knowledge of contract documentation and specifications.
  • Experience using Auto CAD.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, submissions, and project documentation.
