Ford & Stanley are proud to be partnered with one of the UK’s most respected train operating companies. With major infrastructure and asset improvement programmes underway, our customer is expanding its project delivery capability and now seeks an experienced Asset Project Manager to join its growing team. Projects range in value from £20,000 to £20 million, offering exposure to both quick turnaround works and major capital programmes. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can operate with minimal daily guidance, manage programme risks, and drive delivery across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of asset improvement and renewal projects
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, risks, and reporting
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering inputs (civils, electrical, structural, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards
- Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external partners
- Maintain strong governance, documentation, and project controls
- Support the Programme Manager in delivering a progressive, improvement-focused agenda
- Oversee risk, issue, and change management processes
- Work occasional weekends (3–4 per year) to support project delivery
Essential Experience
- Proven experience delivering engineering or construction projects with minimal supervision
- Strong background in civils and/or electrical engineering
- Experience in asset management within a safety-critical or regulated environment
- Technical understanding of construction, infrastructure, or industrial engineering
- Multi-disciplinary project delivery experience
- Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2 (or equivalent)
- Ability to work flexibly across sites and offices
Preferred Experience
- Experience delivering projects in rail, airports, marine/ferry infrastructure, or other transport sectors
- Exposure to platforms, footbridges, station buildings, or similar structures
- Understanding of railway operational and engineering interfaces
