An exciting opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional who has successfully progressed into project management and is looking to take ownership of complex rail infrastructure and ground investigation projects. You will be responsible for managing multiple projects from inception through to completion, driving commercial performance, maintaining strong client relationships, and leading multidisciplinary teams. This role offers significant progression opportunities, exposure to large-scale projects exceeding £1m in value, and the opportunity to influence the continued growth of a successful infrastructure business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple rail infrastructure and ground investigation projects simultaneously.
  • Take full responsibility for project delivery, programme management, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage project budgets, costs, profitability, and commercial performance.
  • Plan and allocate resources to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular performance reporting.
  • Oversee health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all projects.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and junior team members.
  • Support business growth through identifying opportunities and maintaining excellent client service.

Essential Skills

  • MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc in Engineering Geology, Geology, Physical Geography, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing geotechnical, ground investigation, or rail infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of soil and rock logging, ground investigation techniques, and geotechnical data interpretation.
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors and major infrastructure clients.
  • Demonstrable commercial management and budget control experience.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results within demanding environments.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
