Responsibilities
- Tender Production: Take commercial lead on competitive and negotiated bids, ensuring all financial aspects of a tender are accurate and submitted on time.
- Technical Measurement: Utilise digital software (Conquest, Bluebeam, Kubla Cubed) to produce detailed bills of quantities and schedules of works.
- Risk & Opportunity: Investigate and present preliminary cost advice on potential risks and value engineering opportunities to the wider pre-construction team.
- Trade Analysis: Manage the subcontractor schedule and undertake comprehensive trade package analysis to ensure competitive comparisons.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Design Managers and Buying Departments to identify design shortfalls and remain ahead of market trends.
- Presentation: Present cost summaries and final tender solutions at settlement meetings to Regional Directors.
The Candidate
We are looking for a dedicated professional who takes pride in high standards and wants to build a long-term future within a premier contractor.
Experience: A proven track record in estimating within the main contract sector. (Senior candidates will demonstrate full tender ownership; Juniors will show strong foundational knowledge and a desire to learn).
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with estimating/measurement software (Conquest and Bluebeam are highly desirable).
Attributes: Methodical, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Qualifications: Relevant Honours Degree or equivalent.
Soft Skills: A loyal "team player" mentality with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Location: North East: HQ is in Sunderland, with flexibility to be based out of Durham or Newcastle.
Salary: £40,000 - £70,000 DOE
Pension: 6% increasing to 9%
Car/Allowance: Company car or allowance provided
Holiday: 26 days + Bank Holidays (Option to buy 5 additional days)
