The Situation:
Ford & Stanley Interim have partnered with one of the UK’s largest train operating companies on a fleet performance improvement project. We are seeking an experienced mechanically biased Fleet Performance Engineer who has experience with mechanical systems and engines to bridge the gap between the rolling stock workshop and the technical department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support engineering investigations into engine cooling system performance across a diverse fleet of rolling stock.
- Deliver technical input into fleet improvement projects, with a focus on thermal management, cooling efficiency, and component reliability.
- Analyse failure trends and performance data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions for cooling-related issues.
- Collaborate with depot teams to implement and validate engineering solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Develop and review technical documentation, including modification instructions, test procedures, and engineering reports.
- Support the design and implementation of upgrades or retrofits to cooling systems, including radiator, fan, and coolant circuit components.
- Liaise with OEMs and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with engineering standards and specifications.
- Conduct post-modification inspections and performance validation to ensure effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Contribute to the development of long-term maintenance strategies for ageing mechanical systems, with a focus on reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in all engineering activities.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience leading mechanical technical investigations in rolling stock depot environment.
- Minimum of a HNC / HND qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Must be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test.
- Must be able to pass a Medical assessment.
