Fleet Performance Engineer (Mechanical) \\nManchester | £550 per day | 12 months\\n\\nThe Situation:\\n\\nFord & Stanley Interim have partnered with one of the UK’s largest train operating companies on a fleet performance improvement project. We are seeking an experienced mechanically biased Fleet Performance Engineer who has experience with mechanical systems and engines to bridge the gap between the rolling stock workshop and the technical department. \\n\\nKey Responsibilities:\\n\\nLead and support engineering investigations into engine cooling system performance across a diverse fleet of rolling stock.\\nDeliver technical input into fleet improvement projects, with a focus on thermal management, cooling efficiency, and component reliability.\\nAnalyse failure trends and performance data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions for cooling-related issues.\\nCollaborate with depot teams to implement and validate engineering solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.\\nDevelop and review technical documentation, including modification instructions, test procedures, and engineering reports.\\nSupport the design and implementation of upgrades or retrofits to cooling systems, including radiator, fan, and coolant circuit components.\\nLiaise with OEMs and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with engineering standards and specifications.\\nConduct post-modification inspections and performance validation to ensure effectiveness of implemented solutions.\\nContribute to the development of long-term maintenance strategies for ageing mechanical systems, with a focus on reliability and cost-effectiveness.\\nEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in all engineering activities.\\nEssential Criteria:\\n\\nExperience leading mechanical technical investigations in rolling stock depot environment.\\nMinimum of a HNC / HND qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.\\nMust be able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test.\\nMust be able to pass a Medical assessment.\\nLikely Job Titles: Fleet Engineer, Fleet Performance Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Support Engineer, Fleet Handback Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Fleet Reliability Engineer, Performance Engineer, Rolling Stock Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Technical Support Engineer\\n\\nClosing Date: Friday 19th June 2025\\n\\nHow to apply for the role: If you are interested in the Fleet Performance Engineer position, then please apply via this job board.
